NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
Poor sanitation, high incidence of water born diseases and lack of safe drinking water are some of the major health problems identified in rural areas of Nepal. The long- term vision of the project were to raise the level of awareness of the community people on sanitation and also to reduce the incidence of water born diseases and child mortality rate to improve the health and sanitation conditions of ten VDCs of Rauthat district. Two different but intra-linked components were implemented by CEAPRED. The first component envisages improving the understanding of health and sanitation needs through a series of training events for community members, elected leaders, teachers, community volunteers, health workers etc. The second component aimed at providing drinking water facilities, toilet facilities to PLAN’s families in the area through construction of community drinking water tube wells and family latrines. |
