NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
| This program assisted by CIDA and implemented in joint partnership with the Canadian Centre for International Studies and Cooperation (CECI) was started in Baitadi district. The main objective of the program is to strengthen Nepal’s civil society, and more specifically, development of Community Based Organisations (CBOs) as viable and mature institutions capable of interacting with both locally elected governments, government agencies and central level ministries and agencies. Various activities were income generation based on local potentials and priorities, promotion and development of financially viable savings and credit groups as community-based financial institutions, and sustainable economic use and management of natural resources such as forests and water resources. Institutionalization of CBOs is promoted to strengthen the role of civil society and to facilitate sustainable development. |
