NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The Center replicated the "Dhankuta Model" (Income Generating Project for Women Farmers along Dharan - Basantpur Highway) in Sisneri Village (Ward No. 1) of Lamatar VDC. Lalitpur. This pilot project was implemented in cooperation with the District Agriculture Development Office, which aimed to encourage women farmers to grow off-season vegetables in a semi-commercial/commercial scale. Women farmers received on-the-spot training related to off-season vegetables production technology. Besides the technical knowledge, the project provided the necessary inputs to encourage farmers to take up vegetable production. The project facilitated to establish a retail marketing stall at the vegetable market of Lagankhel to provide an outlet for marketing off-season vegetables produced in the villages supported by the project activities.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

CEAPRED staff sensitized and motivated farmers to form production groups for off-season vegetable production. CEAPRED staff also trained members of production groups on production, planning and marketing management.
