Mr. Ram Prasad Dhakal worked as the Project Coordinator and was responsible for implementation, supervision and monitoring of the project activities.

NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

BIWMP is an E.U funded project, which was implemented in Bagmati watershed area covering five districts, namely, Kavre, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Makawanpur and Sindhuli districts of the Country. The project aimed at establishing and providing financial support to marketing or multipurpose co-operatives at VDC level and co-operatives associations at the district level. The project implemented the marketing component, particularly the formation of 15 multipurpose co-operatives or 30 marketing co-operatives or the combination of both types of co-operative institutions to be financially viable within three years' period in the project area. Formation of co-operatives was one of the several activities under the credit component of BIWMP. Several other activities were linked to make the co-operative society a sustainable entity in BIWMP areas.
