NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

Building community Enterprises of small holders (BCES) is designed to improve income and livelihood of poor households along Tulsipur-Rukum road corridor Municipality and Rural Municipality of Salyan district. Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Deutsche Welthungerhilfe (WHH) Germany have jointly supported this project to combat poverty and food insecurity of the most vulnerable sections of the society in Salyan, contributing to establish community enterprise and improvement of income of the target group. The intervention focuses in vulnerable zones of Salyan Districts with high incidence of food insecurity. The main objectives of the project are as follows:

  • To combat poverty and food insecurity of the 2700 HHs from the most vulnerable sections of the society in Salyan District.
  • Contributes to improvement of income and livelihood of the target group.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

  • Established 3 community enterprises to provide technical as well as extension services on advance farm management, value addition and market access.
  • Diversified and increased farm production of 2700 farmers through improved supply of production means and better cultivation.
  • 70% of the targeted famers to increase their total farm production by 30% and marketing their surplus through a community enterprise.
  •  70% of the target group to show at least 3 point increase in diet diversity score.
  • 70% of the targeted families, reduced hunger period of at least 2 month through diversified diet.
