Mr. Rabin Lal Shrestha was involved as Project Leader. He was responsible for design of the project, site selection, trainee selection, providing training and report writing.

NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The program was implemented in Lalitpur district that benefited about 2500 persons. Paper recycling and wall hanging were two built-in-components of the program, which provided additional income opportunities and prepare a better environment by reducing the volume of waste generated. Most of the women involved in paper recycling and wall hanging were members of Women Environment Preservation Committee (WEPCO). CEAPRED facilitated WEPCO to make the program effective and sustainable and was handed over to WEPCO.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

CEAPRED provided Project Leader, support staff and logistic support to the Project. Activities undertaken include this following:
  • Identification of solid wastes of various types
  • Recyclable solid waste and their uses
  • Training on preparation of handicrafts
  • Marketing arrangements of handicrafts made from the waste paper etc.
  • Support to a local NGO (WEPCO) to undertake the activities after CEAPRED's withdrawal
