| Dr. Hari K. Upadhyaya and Mr. Ramananda Gupta designed the Project. Mr. Gupta, Dr. Laxman Pun, and Mr. Keshav Koirala were responsible for implementation of the Project at different periods of the project. They supervised field activities, monitored progress and provided training to vegetable producers' group and cooperatives. |
NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
| The major objective of this project was to increase the cash income of participating farmers and their families by motivating them to grow off-season vegetables on a semi-commercial/commercial scale. Eighty-five production groups were formed and were able to produce 5156.7 mt. of vegetables worth of NRs 25,760,504 during the project period. For marketing, eight vegetable producer' cooperatives were formed that not only handled buying and selling of vegetables but also dealt agri. inputs marketing and distribution. |
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED
| CEAPRED staff sensitized and motivated farmers to form production groups for off-season vegetable production. CEAPRED staff also trained members of production groups and cooperatives on production planning, post harvest handling and marketing managemen. Overall responsibilities include group formation, training, planning, networking of groups and strengthening of the cooperatives. |
