NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The overall goal of LLP was to contribute to sustainable rural poverty reduction in Nepal by operationalizing and piloting the North-South corridor development approach. The purpose of the programme was to contribute to improved, sustainable local livelihoods of 5,000 rural poor and disadvantaged families, including marginal farmers, landless families, women headed households and internally displaced persons (IDPs), located within a reasonable distance (at least one-day walk) from the road heads along the Surkhet-Jumla and Chhinchu (Surkhet)-Jajarkot road corridors. Within the target group, emphasis would be given to woman members, IDPs and members of Dalit, occupational and other downtrodden communities families in five Districts of the Mid-Western Development Region (MWDR) of Nepal. |
