The Skill Up project, funded by Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) is part of a global initiative being implemented in Nepal by Centre for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED) in partnership with Welthungerhilfe (WHH). The project aims to promote the inclusive economic development through promotion of inclusive green economy, ensuring employment creation, economic prosperity, environmental protection and inclusion of most vulnerable and marginalized population, mainstreaming them in the development process.
The project has been implemented in Surkhet district of Karnali Province and Kanchanpur district of Sudurpaschim Province in collaboration with CTEVT affiliated Vocational Schools (Green schools). The youths (gender balanced and inclusion of minority groups) are the primary target group of the project. About 1080 individuals will be directly benefitted from the skill transfer activities, including in-house skill training at vocational schools and farmer field schools training at community level for their employment generation.
The project focuses on promoting individual, social, and economic growth while enhancing participation by equipping youth with essential life skills. This approach involves collaboration with local governments, private and non-profit sectors, and communities to create an enabling environment for economic growth and seeks to foster employment and self-employment opportunities, empowering vulnerable groups such as youth marginalized group and women.
