NAME OF SENIOR STAFF

Dr. Resham Bahadur Thapa and Mr. Bhadra Bilas Pant were Project Coordinators in different periods of the project. They were responsible to supervise and monitor field activities and also to provid training to vegetable producers' group and cooperatives.

NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT

The IGPWF was implemented in Lamatar and Bhatte Danda VDCs with the purpose of empowering rural women by using their farming skills and available time for off-season vegetable production keeping in view with the growing demand of vegetables in urban areas of Kathmandu. The project specifically envisaged to involve 500 to 800 women farmers with small land holdings in the production and marketing of vegetables and raise their additional income within the range of Rs. 6000 to Rs. 8000 per annum.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED

CEAPRED staff sensitized and motivated farmers to form production groups for off-season vegetable production. CEAPRED staff also trained members of production groups and cooperatives on production planning, post harvest handling and marketing management Overall responsibilities include group formation, training, planning, networking of groups and strengthening of the cooperatives.
