NARRATIVE DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
| Under the Community Groundwater Irrigation Sector Project, social moblization component of (CGISP), activities in selected pilot sites of Bara, Parsa and Mahottari districts of Terai region were carried out. The specific objectives of the project included awareness raising among target groups about different opportunities and options in groundwater irrigation development, collection of socio-economic and agricultural data of the selected communities and collection of actual farm budget data of representative sample of households in the pilot sites to assess ability and willingness to pay for ground water irrigation investments and initiate implementation of the pilot project with assistance from Department of Irrigation (DOI) and Department of Agriculture (DOA) under existing credit facilities, however with targeted full cost recovery. |
