CEAPRED and MOLMAC of Karnali province jointly organised “Dialogue with Legislatures & Parliamentarians on Go Green Approach”

A momentous event, "Dialogue with Legislatures and Parliamentarians on Go Green Approach," took place at Surkhet on 3rd October, 2023. This dialogue was jointly organized by the Ministry of Land Management, Agriculture, and Cooperatives (MoLMAC) of Karnali Province and the Skill Up! Project. The event was organised in presence of the Chief Minister of Karnali Province Mr. Raj Kumar Sharma as a chief guest. A total of 39 legislatures and parliamentarians including Chair and vice chair persons of the house, and more than 50 senior government officials, including ministers, secretaries, department heads and experts participated in the dialogue program.
The Secretary of MOLMAC presented ministry's comprehensive strategy on implementation of Go Green approach through adoption of organic agriculture policy in the province. A keynote on “climate change and its effect in agriculture, and need for skill development of youths and their engagement in climate adaptive organic promotion” was presented by Climate and Ecosystem Specialist Dr. Laxmi Datta Bhatt. Similarly, Sr. Program Advisor from CEAPRED, Mr. Keshab Datta Joshi shared initiatives taken and results achieved on climate resilience building through implementation of Skill Up! project.
Hon. Chief Minister in his remarks suggested that this endeavour requires a collaborative effort from all stakeholders. The parliamentarians including Chair and Vice Chair persons of the House strongly recommended that all the relevant ministries, departments and other stakeholders work together to develop and implement effective policies to address climate issues and involve youths in green economy promotion.
The Secretary of MOLMAC thanked all the parliamentarians and participants for participating in the event and providing valuable recommendations. He expressed commitment of Ministry to include the recommendations in the organic agriculture strategy (go green approach) and implement in collaboration with all the stakeholders in the sector.
