Successful Conclusion of CEAPRED's 36th Annual General Meeting

The 36th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Centre for Environmental and Agricultural Policy Research, Extension and Development (CEAPRED) was successfully held on 4 Oct, 2024.  The event chaired by the Acting Chairperson Dr. Munni Sharma, successfully engaged over two-thirds of its members including five Executive Committee members. They discussed over significant progresses made the foregone year as well as developments and strategic initiatives for the current year. This AGM was meant for reviewing and ratifying the annual and audit reports for the fiscal year 2080/81.
The event commenced with a welcoming address of the Executive Committee member Mr Indra Raj Pandey. A key highlight of the event was the presentation by Executive Director, Mr Jaya Mukunda Khanal, who provided an overview of CEAPRED’s projects progress over the past year.  Mr Khanal outlined several achievements and initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural practices and promoting environmental sustainability, heightening the positive impacts on local communities and improvements in livelihoods of the farmers through sustainable agriculture practices. Additionally, Treasurer Mr Bharat Prasad Upadhyay presented the financial performance of previous FY, showcasing a balanced budget and increased funding for various initiatives.
The AGM also facilitated discussions on future projects, potential partnerships and strategies for enhancing outreach and engagement with rural communities. Participants expressed their commitment to fostering innovation and resilience in agricultural practices to better support farmers and improve food security.
Dr Sharma, the chair of the event, in her closing remarks, underscored the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing the challenges facing the agricultural sector, particularly in light of recent climate impacts. "Our mission is to ensure sustainable agricultural practices that benefit both the environment and local communities," she affirmed. The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to all participants, recognizing their contributions and dedication to CEAPRED’s mission. Dr Sharma expressed optimism for the future, stating, "Together, we can make significant strides towards a more sustainable and equitable agricultural landscape in Nepal." The 36th AGM reaffirmed CEAPRED's commitment to transparency, accountability, and collaboration as it looks forward to another year of impactful work. The AGM concluded with exchange of best wishes for upcoming Nepali festive seasons.
